Endometrial cancer Information
Endometrial cancer begins in women's uterus upon abnormal cell growth and may invade or migrate to other body parts. It often occurs after menopause. Normally, the uterus lining (endometrium) sheds and regrows periodically, thus forming menstruation. However, in the event of hormone imbalance, endometrium may fail to shed irregularly and develop into cancer.
Endometrial cancer symptoms
- Vaginal bleeding outside menstruation
- Feeling pain during urination
- Feeling pain in sexual intercourse
- Pelvic pain
Endometrial cancer risk factors
- Aged 50 and over
- Infertility
- Obesity
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Massive intake or accumulation of estrogen
Diagnosis
- Dilatation and curettage of uterus
- Extract and examine uterus lining tissues
- Vagina ultrasound examination
- CT scan
Treatment
Surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and Hormone therapy.
