Oesophageal cancer Information
Oesophageal cancer is the cancer that occurs in the oesophagus due to genetic mutation and subsequent canceration of oesophageal tissue cells. It can be classified as squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma according to the types of cells.
Oesophageal cancer symptoms
- Discomfort or sensation of foreign matters in the oesophagus when swallowing
- Regurgitation due to partial oesophageal obstruction
- Loss of weight due to malnutrition
Oesophageal cancer risk factors
- Oesophageal injury
- Malnutrition and trace element deficiencies
- Family history of esophageal cancer
- Long-term smoking
- Heavy alcohol use
- Frequent consumption of preserved, smoked and boiling-hot food
Diagnosis
- X-ray examination
- Endoscopy
Treatment
Surgical excision, radiotherapy and chemotherapy for the moment.
